What is iCloud Keychain?
iCloud Keychain is Apple’s built-in password management system. It stores and autofills your login credentials, Wi-Fi passwords, and even credit card information across Apple devices using iCloud.
Why You Might Want to Cancel iCloud Keychain
- You’re switching to a third-party password manager like Bitwarden or 1Password.
- You no longer want your credentials synced across devices.
- Concerned about privacy or data syncing.
Steps to Cancel iCloud Keychain
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap on your name (Apple ID) at the top.
- Choose iCloud from the list.
- Select Keychain.
- Toggle iCloud Keychain off.
- You may be prompted to keep or delete data from the device.
What Happens After Cancellation?
Once disabled, your Keychain data is no longer synced with iCloud. If you choose to delete it, saved passwords and other credentials are removed from your device.
Is iCloud Keychain a Paid Subscription?
No, iCloud Keychain is a free feature. However, if you're using iCloud+ for additional storage, turning off Keychain will not affect your iCloud storage plan.
